HI-LIGHTS The Hi-Lights staff this year has put forth much effort to produce a school newspaper of excellent quality. Editors and assistant editors were selected at the beginning of the year by the sponsor, Mr. Gascho. Editors-in-chief were Bonnie Frasier and Karen Cure. Janet Herrick was assistant editor. Editors of special fields were the following: Fashions-Susie Moore, News-Barb Hepburn, Art-Kemp Harshmang Features-Rick Denner- lineg Sports---John Katterjohn, and Photography -Warren Keiner. All editors were Freshmen, and most were members of the club last year. Members were chosen on the basis of scholastic standing. They were required to write and turn in at least two stories a Week, and if they didn't, they were immediately withdrawn from the club- For the first time, text books were used by the club which met five days a week. Previously, it met on Monday and Tuesday as did most of the other clubs. In late April, Hi-Lights members took a field trip to the Star-News Building to learn more about journalism techniques-proofreading, 111' terviewing, reporting, etc. Yes, Westlane has a paper with a good 1'eCQfd' This year has greatly enhanced its reputation. In the early part of the year, club m?U?b9I'S, sponsored by Mrs. Thomas, wrote Oflglllal pantomimes in preparation for their i0m1Cal one act play, My Cousin From Sweden. The show must go on was the cry heard from not OUIY the seven actresses but also the seven- teen other members who worked in such capaci- UGS 21S.di1'CCtOrS, promptors, stage crew, make- up advisors, and scenery collaborators. SQUARE DANCE Do-si-do, a grand right and left, and swing your partnersi' were some of the common calls frequently heard by the members of the Square Dance Club. The members of this club, under the supervision of Mr. Owen, learned the fundamental calls and steps of square dancing.
