Bareither, Mr. Abel, Mr. Axsom, ,Mri Spilly. 7 BANDS To the seventy-nine members 0 Band, music is more than just sounds in the 6th grade, the pupils choose their instrlif ments and begin learning the complexities f music. The Concert Band is comprised of eighgh and ninth grade students. Membership is deter- mined by ability and proficiency. The officers CI1EQB0b f the Concert - Beginni are: President-Phil Scott, Vice-Presid Wfhitinger, Secretary-Janet Herrick, Trea -Pete Scott, Historian-Debbie Wfisely. These officers were chosen by the band members, while three others were appointed by Mr. Axsom, the band director. The appointed three were as fol- lows: Concert Master Phil Scott, Studen --Phil Scott, and Librarians-Linda Ewell Linda Hamilton. The members' uniforms were blue blazers and white trousers or skirts. This year the group appeared at the February Open House, the Spring Concert on May 15, and at a Northview Exchange Concert on March 13. The other two bands, the Cadet Band, com- posed of thirty-nine seventh graders, and thc Stage Band, which was a select group of musicians who met on club days, also provided Wholesome entertainment in the field of music for students, teachers, and parents. ORCHESTRA Under the direction of Mr. Penwell, the 55 members of the Orchestra worked to provide full scale enjoyment for the students, parents, and faculty. Their main program was the Spring Concert, but they also performed at the Christ- mas program and the Triangle Club Style Show in the spring. The group participated in thef Christmas and Spring programs. They also sang at a parent-teacher meeting at Delaware Trail School, a women's luncheon at the Sheraton-Lincoln Hotel, and at the annual exchange program with Eastwood Junior High. Raymey, J.
