WESTWIND ar y in the year members of the West w divided into five main groups Intro ton, activities, sports album, and art e introduction staff concentrated its eff resenting an overall View of the School life of the 1963 '64 school year. Listing the names of the member club and briefly stating its main objective was the function of the activities staff. The sports' section endeavored of the memorable sports events of the name the team members who worked to bring glory to our athletic department. The album group, as the name 1mplies,wa5 assigned the task of organizing and alphabetizing the names of all Westlane students. Our art group drew the pictures throughout the pages of the Westwiud. The Westwinu' staff has Worked hard this year to put out a good yearbook. We hope that you will enjoy recalling the memories captured on its many pages. Bareither, Mr. Abel, Mr. Axsom, ,Mri Spilly. 7 BANDS To the seventy-nine members 0 Band, music is more than just sounds in the 6th grade, the pupils choose their instrlif ments and begin learning the complexities f music. The Concert Band is comprised of eighgh and ninth grade students. Membership is deter- mined by ability and proficiency. The officers CI1EQB0b f the Concert - Beginni are: President-Phil Scott, Vice-Presid Wfhitinger, Secretary-Janet Herrick, Trea -Pete Scott, Historian-Debbie Wfisely. These officers were chosen by the band members, while three others were appointed by Mr. Axsom, the band director. The appointed three were as fol- lows: Concert Master Phil Scott, Studen --Phil Scott, and Librarians-Linda Ewell Linda Hamilton. The members' uniforms were blue blazers and white trousers or skirts. This year the group appeared at the February Open House, the Spring Concert on May 15, and at a Northview Exchange Concert on March 13. The other two bands, the Cadet Band, com- posed of thirty-nine seventh graders, and thc Stage Band, which was a select group of musicians who met on club days, also provided Wholesome entertainment in the field of music for students, teachers, and parents.
