Mr. Reynolds running the school Girls, there is no reason to have a messy school. NA THA N O. REYNOLDS, HEADMASTER This the time of leave-taking, a time ofjoy and doubt, a time to look ahead, to speak of the future. Some of what you bring to that future is captured here in this book: sudace images that reflect the excitement, the happy frivolity of time spent trying to catch the wind. Here too are memories of those moments of exhilaration and joy, of despera- tion and sefrevelation--the substantial fabric of your school-girl days. I hope that from your teachers and your school you have gained a genuine faith in yourselves, an abiding respect for the workings of an ordered and contained mind, the will and courage to seek that quality of personal fuUillment which will bring you happiness and continued hope to the whole human enterprise. You leave here having earned the respect and admiration of us all and carry with you our best hopes and abiding concern. three xy, p ,me m '14, , IV 1. . :J ,M MW? g2,:'T fi 1-g 53352, :QT ' 'le 9 if .,f ., Z , law M Ei 391 ew X , X, K T hi.: 'K-gg. .,,.. 7? r 4 fvfffgi f Q 123 I -,AT ' Y W W, A gtvmmfs, 'af,,.n,,. . wi' 'w 0 wif 'A' in . , . The year succeeded because we wanted it to. When we were crying with each other, when we were laughing together, when we sujered through unfnished buildings and incomplete clothes, we were near to one anotherp we were the essence ofour school. We established new programs this year: un- derstood honor, the Student Body Bud- get, Friday assemblies, and 7th Period activi- ties. We adjusted to cramped facilities, and we experimented with ideas. The year sayv a re- vision of old projects, the Honor Court and the Charity Committee, and the introduction of new ones, the Discipline Committee and Town- Hall meetings. We survived and somewhere, we benefted. 1 thank you all. I thank the Faculty, Miss Fass and Mr. Reynolds, the Alumnae As- sociation, and the Mothers' Club. Thank you for aiding, advising, and encouraging those of us on Council to achieve a fuUilling community at Westlake. We played together triumphantly, and we studied together thoughjully. With all the smiles I can render and a few tears, also, good-b ye. SENIOR COUNCIL FIRST ROW: Sue Tiholiz, 'Tina Webster, Suzanne Siskel, Mavi Breech. As head of the English Department, teacher and counselor for the seventh grade, and advisor for the Vox staff she handles each job, no matter how time consuming, with diligence and sincere dedication. She is also active in countless community projects, notably the Destination 90 Program encompassing smog control, conser- vation and recreational facilities in the San Fer- nando Valley. To the class of 1968, Miss Bredlow is a special friend. Our English teacher for two years, she demonstrated afaith in our ability that has signW- cantly aided our development. Despite her many other concerns, she continues to care about the weUare of our class. With the hope of showing our appreciation for her constant warmth and understanding, we have dedicated this yearbook to her. Dreams and schemes and circus crowds, I 've looked at lgfe that way. But now friends are acting strange, They shake their heads, they say I 've changed. For something's lost, but something's gained, In living every day.
