V, ax MRS. MALCOLM DICKINSON The Senior Ring Pledge embodies our long-range goals for Westlake graduates. On the evening you received your rings you promised to seek the best gifts-of civilization, of man's achievements, of human- ism, if you will-in a spirit of loyalty to your alma mater. Your ring is to be a constant reminder that you will center your thought and action in the best that we know of beauty and of truth: the golden part. Finally, your pledge of service to others may bring you the greatest happiness and self-fulfillment. Look at your ring often, and strive for constancy to these ideals. r MISS CAROL MILLS Years give a perspective. They put into place what is of little value, what is of true worth. Like Ruskin's books of the hour, books of all time, a school is tested as are its pupils by its intrinsic qualities. West- lake has met that test by its constant insistence upon fineness of character and achievement, and by its orientation through thoughtful change to the needs of a changing world. The years pronounce it good. 8 THE MR. SYDNEY A. TEMPLE The aims of Westlake for the past fifty-nine years have been academic superiority and the shaping and development of character of girls into young wo- men. With devoted and consecrated teachers, and students carefully selected to qualify for good Westlake citizenship, I have an abiding faith that the same ideal will be perpetuated for years to come. Education is the most important enterprise of our free society, and I deem it a privilege to be a part of the Westlake community.
