OLD FACES IN NEW PLACES Anybody who is asked to say a few words at the opening of a new attraction faces an immediate challenge. That challenge is to sum up in comparatively few words the attractiveness or significance of what you are about to see. This edition of the Ram-ler is in keeping with the highest standards of accomplishment for which we are all striving. It should serve as an inspiration to aspirants in journalism as well as being a priceless keepsake. The many pictures which help tell the 1987-88 story will be treasured in future years even more than they are at the present time. Never again will such a collection of past events be obtainable. Time, which never stops on its journey, will pass before your eyes, and in only a few moments you will be a member of the community looking back on the years you spent at Westlake High School. When you do, the photos, facts, and memories in the book will be your stepping stones to a happy reminiscence. “Memory, said Cicero, “is the treasury and guardian of all things. ” May the memories this yearbook holds serve as a treasure chest to be opened in the future, long after you leave these halls. This year's Ram-ler staff is to be commended for their outstanding effort put forth in this yearbook. Best of Memories! Cary Anderson 26 Academics

This year brought several changes to Westlake High. Mr. Anderson was assistant principal last year and became principal this year, while Mr. Wieschhaus, who was a teacher and the basketball coach, became the assistant principal. Mr. Wieschhaus feels “honored to held this new position. He finds it “challenging working with the kids” and he wants to help students excel in life by offering more to the learners who want to achieve. He also enjoys this new position because it is different and very challenging, and as assistant principal he is required to make decisions every day that affect teachers and students. Need help with a problem? Worried about plans after high school? Concerned about GPA, test performance, etc. ? Then see Mrs. McGee, the guidance counselor, who first started teaching English and Speech at Westlake in 1968. This year she serves as both the counselor and the yearbook advisor.
