Special Attractions Lip Sync The WHS Speech Club sponsored a Lip Sync Contest on Thursday, May 9, 1985. Mrs. Jackie Ackel was the sponsor of the contest. Darrell Yarbrough was the Master of Ceremonies. Judges were disc jockeys from LA-99 Radio Station. Winners were: Rock-Tim Thibodeaux, Randy Edwards, Jimmy LeBouef, Joel Ashworth, and Chris Dupre; Pop-Vonda Conner and Chris Dupre; and Country-Gavin Abshire. 1984 World’s Fair The 1984 Louisiana World Exposition was held in New Orleans, Louisiana. It ran from May 12,1984 to November 11,1984. Because of this, many of the students at WHS were able to attend the World's Fair. When asked the question, What did you think of the 1984 World's Fair? , some students responded as follows: I think it was a good effort but fizzled out in the end. Anthony Huffman I thought it was a good idea but they needed more of Louisiana in it. Angie Manuel I think it was good that we had it here, but they are out-of-date. Leisa Vincent I thought it was real educational, but there weren't enough rides. Gavin Abshire I thought it was very interesting. I thought they had very good exhibits. Scott O'Kelley I didn't think the people appreciated the culture of different parts of the world. Jacques Picou I thought it was an improvement form the World's Fair in Knoxville. Jonan Robinson This display was a the entrance to the World's Fair. Student Life 25 NASA's exhibit in the World's Fair was the Enterprise
