BeiJiratinn This year it was the unanimous decision of the Ram-Ler staff to dedicate the 1969 edition to a faculty member who has been with us for only two years, but has gained the respect and admiration of the entire community in this short time - Coach Charles E. Kuehn. He graduated from high school in Tom Ball, Texas in 1949 and entered McNeese State College where he earned his B. S. degree in 1953. It was in Tampa, Florida in 1952 when one of the most colorful stories about him came into being. One of the Tampa players had the ball and was headed for the goal line when Charlie Kuehn tackled him from the bench at the side line. At McNeese, Coach Kuehn met and married Billie Crochet of Baton Rouge and Lake Charles in 1954. They now have eight children, two boys and six girls, and Mrs. Kuehn hopes that when you receive this book the number will still be eight. After coaching at La Grange for three years the coach moved to McNeese where he was head track coach and assisted with football. He earned his M.E. degree from McNeese in 1965. In the fall of 1967 Coach Kuehn joined us here at Westlake High School and distinguished himself with a winning team for the 1968 football season. We are all pleased, proud and delighted and are looking forward to even greater records in the future. It is with distinct pleasure that we of the Ram-Ler staff dedicate this 1969 edition to you - Coach Charles E. Kuehn. II
