The students of Westlake High School again heaped honor on themselves and their school by winning the 1964 Sweepstakes for the third consecutive year, thus giving our school permanent possession of the trophy. Thirty-nine students participated in the literary rally bringing home twenty 1st places, sixteen 2nd places, and two 3rd places, for a grand total of 150 points. The nearest school in our class was Marion High School with 78 points. It is interesting to note that Westlake High gained more points in this literary rally than any other school in any class including the triple A schools. The music festival contributed a first place win toward the trophy. The speech rally brought a 1st place, the track team a first place, and playday a 2nd place, thus assuring us once again that we're number one. Shown below are the people taking part in the literary rally: HUMANITIES: VOCATIONAL AGRICULTURE: Voc. Ag. I first place Rodney Bankens Voc. Ag. II first place Mike Colosky Voc. Ag. Ill first place Jimmy Anderson Voc. Ag. IV first place Harlan Guillory SOCIAL STUDIES: World Geog. second place Tim Harrison Gen. History second place Linda Bowers Berry Eng.
