The Gators piled up a 20-0 lead at halfime and went on to win 20-14. The Rams showed determination and hustle the second half but could not overcome the 20 point lead. TIGERS-RAMS FIRST CONFERENCE VICTIM Westlake made their first conference start a successful one by defeating DeQuincy 18-13. The Rams showed improvement but still lacked championship form. WESTLAKE BEATS TEXAS ELEVEN The Rams took a journey to Beaumont to win a 20-18 triumph over the French Buffalos. The Buffalos played their best game of the year but the Rams air attack was clicking and provided the margin. DRAGONS FALL BEFORE RAMS The underdog Rams surprised a capacity crowd at the home of the Dragons and walked away with a 27-20 victory. Westlake showed lots of improvement and just would not be beaten. BRENT GAINES RAMS TIE HIGHLY REGARDED TIGERS Rams, underdog for the second straight week, showed more determination and hustle than Morgan City, who advanced to the semifinals in AA playoffs, and held the favored Tigers to a 13-13 tie. WESTLAKE SWAMPS LIONS The Rams had a pretty easy night of it at Vinton in winning a 47-13 victory. The Lions showed lots of hustle but couldn't stop the mighty Ram machine. RAMS SLIP PAST WARRIORS 7-6 The much improved Ram defense held the highly regarded Marion Warrior offense to a medicore night. Both teams had a pretty slow night but the Rams salvaged a 7-6 victory for their third straight conference win. RAMS BUTT GENTLEMEN IN THE RICE BOWL Westlake slid by the big Crowley Gentlemen on a muddy field before a very small crowd. The Rams had little trouble in coasting to a 27-0 victory. GENE OLIVER RAMS MAUL TIGERS The Rams jinx over the Tigers, which has lasted for about 7 years, was rubbed in even deeper by a 52-2 mauling. The 55 Rams saw plenty of action and looked good. RAMS WIN DISTRICT TITLE The Rams machine finally worked with full potent and ground out a convincing 35-7 victory over a taunted Leesville eleven. Westlake worked with timely precision and won their second district in as many years. RAMS WIN BI-DISTRICT TILT The Rams showed fine form in trimming the Oakdale Warriors, a very deserving foe. Oakdale was the hardest hitting team met by the Rams so far. BULLDOGS STOP RAMS IN SEMI-FINALS The Ferriday Bulldogs, who went on to win the state championship after winning the CLASS B title last year, made the Rams look like a class C outfit. The Rams were outplayed in every department and showed very little of the form showed thus far. The Bulldogs scored early and went on to win a 32-14 triumph.
