This year's Panorama is more than a bookstating names and printing pictures. lt is every- one's personal yearbook that will take you from seventh grade, when you first step off the bus, through your Senior year, whe.n you take that all important step into the future. Cn the way through these years we will stop at the highlighting events that you will long remember. t- 4 The changing of class and your first after school dance, the football and basketball games, this was your first year. . A ,. I ln your Sophomore year there was the first dance you ever put on and the first time you found out how tohang crepe paper. , The Junior-'Senior Banquet with its glamor and ex- citement climaxed your Junior social activities. Finally it's your Senior year and with that comes the Prom, another banquet, and at the head of everything, graduation. Along these years were heartbreak and pain, hard years and struggles. ln seventh grade your classwork was probablyyour largest problem. After that came clothes, dates, the car, and finally, What will I do when l graduate? For the most part the moments of anguish were well in the minority to the happiness and accomplishments. For the Seniors this year, Westlake High School may be the last stop on the road to business or a home. For others, it is only a stepping stone to greater heights, but for all Westlake has or will be their home for six years and in this book they will find a bridge back to the be- ginning so that they may never lose touch with the ex- periences found there.

English study has tour aims, the mastery of our language as a science, a history, a ioy, and a tool. This is our English department, giving our students a wealth of background knowledge in English, so that they will be prepared. Romance, adventure, and beauty of form are characteristics that make any language study pop- ular. Westlake pupils tind that fascinating French stories, gay Spanish songs, and Latin plays all possess these qualities. These flowing tongues are as much a part ot Westlake as the faculty that teaches them. MRS. S. HELGESON MR. L. HOLLOWAY Oberlin College, B.A. Oberlin College, Ohio State University, M.A. MR. L.
