English study has tour aims, the mastery of our language as a science, a history, a ioy, and a tool. This is our English department, giving our students a wealth of background knowledge in English, so that they will be prepared. Romance, adventure, and beauty of form are characteristics that make any language study pop- ular. Westlake pupils tind that fascinating French stories, gay Spanish songs, and Latin plays all possess these qualities. MR. S. MULICHAK What greater happiness than to create beauty? We should not forget the aesthetic pursuits of life, those accomplished purely for satisfaction and creativity. ln a time when we are too often surrounded by an aura of tension, fine arts serve as a means of expression ancl re- lease. The importance of objects made by our own land, and whose design is drawn by our own imagination should not be forgotten.
