'Though the idea of returning back to school didn't really excite me, I was glad to see some of my friends again siilge I spent most of my summer vacationing in Spain, junior Theresa Ruiz said. Returning to school, many found themselves in a very new environment with stimulating new opportuni- ties and privileges. I was very happy to finally 'graduate' from junior high and go on to high school, freshman Shannon Elliot said. High school was new and exciting but I didn't enjoy being the lowest person on the totem pole. Emotions about the return to high school varied, often depending on the age of the student, the older the individual, the less they wanted to return. It's nice to see every- one again but after a week, you're ready to get out, sophomore Blake Miller said. Opinions differed in the beginning but after those first few weeks, the atten- dants came to the realiza- tion, whether they like it or not, that school is here, and here to stay . . .at least for another nine months anyway.
