Yes, our high school days have passed, but we talre with us many happy and wonderful memories. Organizations that tie community and school together. The Parent Teachers Association plays an important role in the relationship between home and school in our c o m rn u n i t y. They have chosen A Child and His Future as their theme tor the year. We are proud ot the fine work that the P.T.A. has done tor our school and thank the otticers tor their spirit. This year's otticers are Mrs. Glenn Bar- ton, president, Mrs. Edward Peters, Mrs. Margaretta Rouse, and Mrs. Carmine Cor- zo, vice-presidents: Mrs. Elmer Lorre, secre- taryg and Mrs. Russell Peters, treasurer. The Mother's Club, under the leadership ot Mrs. John Barnyic, president, Mrs. Martha Tahaney, vice-president, Mrs. Loreline Ash- baugh, secretary, and Mrs. Franlc Diagostino, treasurer, has done a tine iob in its annual project ot awarding varsity iaclrets to senior cheerleaders, band members, and boys par- ticipating in athletics. This was one of Wilmerding's best offensive and defensive showings of the season. The following Friday the Wildcats were host to North Huntingdon. With the offense and defense clicking the same as the previous week, the Wildcats went on to a fine I8-0 win. Next on the schedule for Wilmerding were their arch rivals, the East McKeesport Rams. Striking early and often through the airlanes, the Wildcats blasted the Rams 39-6. Against Swissvale, the Wildcats got revenge for last year's humiliatinq defeat. Swissvale was completely outclassed by the powerful, well-manned Wilmerding eleven. Wilmer- ding took this one, 20-0. The Wildcats played their game of the year against a heavily favored Turtle Creek team. The boys played a tremendous game against the Creekers, and with a break could have won. The spirit and determination of the Wildcats earned them a well deserved 7-7 tie. The Wildcats played good ball throughout the season and with a 7-I-2 record. Wilmer- ding had a young team that gained experi- ence with every game. Eleven seniors, Blaze- vich, Miskow, Comunale, Schuckers, Evans, Gadagno, Jones, Dolan, Kukic, Nesta, and Godich will be lost through graduation, but Coach Nemec has a fine nucleus for next year. Besides the eleven seniors mentioned above, letters were also awarded to Merkov- sky, Carrano, Luna, Heintzelman, Waszazck, Pekieh, and Neshotf. Hats off to these boys for a job well done. In fhe inleresf of promoling sporfsmanship and giving girls an opporfunily fo lalre parl in compefilive sporls, 'lhe Girls' Alhlelic Council, more popularly lrnown as 'rhe G.A.C., was formed many years ago. Comprised of len members-five seniors, four juniors, and one sophomore-lhe Council is advised by Miss Kafhryn Hannan. This year 'lhe girls chose lhe following offi- cers fo lead 'lhemx Theresa Liverafli, presi- denl: Arlene Harfrnan, vice-presidenlg Mary Arendas, secrelaryg and Audrey Waldron, lreasurer. By parficipafing in sporfs sponsored by +he G.A.C., girls can earn poinls 'foward winning an emblem. Some sporls in which +he girls can 'lalre par+ in are volleyball, baslcefball, soflball, badminfon, and bowling. Af baslcefball games lhe G.A.C. sells candy, and during lhe fall lhey sell school emblem jerseys. Each member loolrs forward fo lhe annual picnic oufing and fo affending an oufslanding afhlefic evenl held during lhe year. Al lhe end of lheir service in fhe G.A.C., fhe senior members are presenled wifh whi+e sweafers. We feel fha? 'lhis organi- zafion has earned a lop spol in our school for achieving ils worlhwhile goal. To promote an athletic program for girls. The main money raising campaign of the G.A.C. is the sale of candy and potato chips at the home basketball games. This project is in its second year and is enjoyed by the fans as a half time refresher. Along with the learning ot how to play different sports, handbooks on basketball retereeing and another for timer and scorer. Any girl interested may take these tests. This year basketball seemed to be the favorite sport of the girls, with enough sophomore, junior, and senior girls signing for seven teams. There were three sophomore, two junior, and two seniors team. After eliminating to one winner for each grade, play-off games were held.
