CLASS HISTORY In September of 1974, a group of the Class of 1978 entered the Westfield Vocational High School as members of the first ninth grade Exploratory Program. Also, the next year, the entering sophomore class brought with it the first female student in the history of the school, Sharon Puza. With the addition of the Allied Health and Culinary Arts Programs female students have since become commonplace. In sports we continued our firsts having the schools soccer team being selected to the Massachusetts Small School State Soccer Tournament. The team was led by it ' s Bi- County League and All Western Mass. Small School All Stars Konrad Sadkowsid and Tim Bein. Also, Basketball had a league star in Al Bobecki who was noted for his fine of- fensive play. Konrad Sadkowski continued to reap honors by capturing the Happy Houli- han Award for the outstanding Catholic Scholar Athlete. The welcoming speech at graduation was delivered by our Class President Tim McLane. He had been given able assistance by the other class officers: Vice President, Garry Tin- ney, Secretary, Sharon Puza and Treasurer, William Brick. Others that represented our class were Ken Kratzenberg and Mark Sileikis to YAC-SAC, Konrad Sadkowski to Boy ' s State and Sharon Puza to Girl ' s State. Awards and honors were received by many of our classmates. The Valedictorians Ken- neth Pazik and Konrad Sadkowski were noted for their academic acheivement through scholarships and awards. The prized Caba Award was shared by Konrad Sadkowski and Jeff Conroy. The Class of 1978 will always remember the leadership of the faculty that led us through our tenure here at Voke. The teachers as well as administrators worked hard to give us the necessary tools to excell at our vocations. The memory of our stay here at Westfield Vocational High School will be with us always. 53
