To the Class of 1983: By the time you receive this yearbook and my final words to you, you will have graduated. Your College days will have been completed. But just as this book will always serve to renew your memories of the time you spent and studied and learned at Westfield State College, your unique spirit will always remain with your Alma Mater as a goal for classes to come. You called yourselves awesome! How appropriate! As a class you were that, and more! You exhibited a genuine love for the College, a concern for others, a dedication to work, a sense of humor. You always had my respect and my gratitude. Now you face new challenges, new opportunities for con- cern, for diligence, for dedication, for humor. During your College years you have sown for yourselves a mantle of accomplishment. It is still yours. Wear it well. You are still a part of the College Community. Early in your years. 1 read you a remarkable poem by Rabindramoth Tagore. In bidding you this final good wish, may I help you recall it to your memories. I slept and dreamt That life was joy. I awoke and saw That life was duty. I acted and behold Duty was joy! Dear friends in the Class of 1983, I wish you peace, love, and joy! Respectfully, JLuJ - Francis J. Pilecki President Dr. Francis J. Pilecki President 20
