SHINING IN THE SHADOW In June 1986, the Weather Vane staff selected the theme for this yearbook. It was our intent to select a theme that would be both representative of and relevant to the student body's experience at Westfield High School. We hope that our theme, shining in the shadow, accomplishes our intention. To us, the phrase shining in the shadows seems to characterize the student body at WHS. The shining in the phrase represents the uniqueness that each student at Westfield High School possesses. Whether it be the arts, athletics, or academics, we each have our individual strengths that enable us to stand out from the shadows. These shadows may represent the problems of adole-sence or the uncertainity of the future, but whatever they represent, the students at Westfield High School have the capability to look beyond these shadows and continue to shine.
