- . This era . . . our generation . . . 1981... we students ... comprise Westfield High School. We influence the shape of today and embody the nature of tomorrow. Moments, days, years passing by so quickly teach us only a fraction of their meaning and importance. These days disappear before we are totally prepared and educated for the times ahead. Today we attempt to pave our own roads which will direct our futures and determine the scope of our experiences. Tomorrow is too novel and untried to be cumbered with the old conclusions of yesterday. So here, in this 19 1 Weather Vane, live ... The countless moments we have experienced influence who we are and what we believe in. Our once vivid childhood events begin to fade into memory: some still retain special significance, others recall laughter. Yesterday, never to be changed or relived, still helps to develop . . . i the thoughts of today . every moment instructs, and every object, for wisdom is infused into every form Our interests and achievements build up a reservoir of talent and knowledge. Now is when we differentiate and develop into individuals displaying unique and special strengths. These qualities define the value of our present existence and become the drawing board on which we create . . the dreams of tomorrow . . the purpose of life is to live to the real future by living to the real present Sensing tomorrow rapidly approaching, we strive to achieve success, to understand happiness, and to acquire the wisdom to guide our increasing knowledge. Everything happens too fast, yet at times in slow motion; with one foot in the classroom and the other on the street, we let the door swing shut. 7 8 What we are today is civilization's gift to us. what we become is our gift to civilization. The class of 1981 barely echoes through the emptying corridors. The horizon draws nearer with each and every step. Wave today good-bye and point toward tomorrow. 9 weather vane westfield senior high school 550 dorian road westfield, new jersey Co-Editors Eileen Rainey Editorial Staff Maria Blancato Maura Clarkin Linda Coyne Beth James John Kessler Cindy Lopez Laura McLane Judy McLean Advisor Elizabeth Coriell Chris Shields Pam Meiselman Sue Minzter David Rinn Jane Robinson Glenn Rothman Michelle Shields Maureen Walsh Mark Wolf Faculty ....
