Pure is that remembrance, which the wise and good leave in the hearts that love them, when they die .... v -Thomas Moore In early November, Mr. Alexander S. Baloga, Westfield High School chemistry teacher, passed away. Perhaps the vacation which came at this time was fitting, for the halls were empty and stillg even the chemistry lab in which the Well-liked teacher had met with his students was reverently silent. His death was sadly felt through- out the entire school. Mr. Baloga endeared himself to those who were privileged to sit in his classes. Through the years we shall cherish the memory of a good friend and teacher. . 9 '-A Pfe- ,9 ,, 'zeal Y f Ui , K Y i 14 1 S' . nrrn, rr . +-f-Q C.LZ 'l 7nll. l f't'a v i y WW I X N . 1961 Senior Class Officers SI'lA'I'lC1J, left to right: Joan Siegel, Secretaryg Miss Margaret Dietrich, Class Adviserg and Handy White, Treasurer. STANDING: Art Garvin, Pres- iclentg Hank Burk, Vice Presidentg and Sandy Dashiell, Assistant Treasurer. To underclassmen the Senior Class means many things. It means the privilege of using the Senior Door, of going to the Senior Picnic and the Senior Banquet, of having a Prom given in your honor, which you can attend without pay- ing any admission price. To the seniors their class meant something more. It meant friends-friends they had seen all their lives-who would now be going into the world to fail or succeed. To the seniors this was a year of realizing a thousand ambitions. It was the year that Westfield beat Plainfield in the Thanksgiving Day Game-the first time in twelve ears. y More than that, the Senior Year was the final year-the year when all education and slave labor over books would be put to the final test. Stu- dents either awaited returns from the colleges or they began to think about just what they were going to do to take their part in the world. This year was an end, but it is also a begin- ning.
