Band and Orchestra The band is made up of fifty-five members, The instrumentation is fifteen clarinets. five saxophones, one bassoon, one oboe. four flutes. two piccolos, f-our horns. four bass. nine rumpets, six trcm-bones, cymbals. bass drums, two snare drums, and bells. It has attennded many district and state contests and won honors in both. This organization played for all the home football and basketball games and always gave a fine performance. All the musical organizations owe their many successes to the untiring efforts of our capable and interested director. Mrs, Beelar. ' The orchestra is made up of forty-three members. The instrumentation is seventeen violins. one viola, four flutes. three trumpets. one string bass, three brass. fcur horns. two cellos, two trcmbones, one bassoon. four clarinets, piano, tympani and snare drums. It has attended district, state, and national contests and has always brought home honors. This organization is an important feature cf all plays, operettas, and other programs presented by the school. We are proud oi' the good instrumentation cf this organization, which is exceptional in such a small school, Vocal The vocal organization of the music dtparinient consists of Madrigal Club. Girls' Glee Club, Girls' Triple Trio, Girls' Quartet, Boys' Glee Club, and Boys' Quartet and Mixed Chorus. The Madrigal Club is composed of the select voices of the Glee Club and the Triple Trio is composed of nine select voices of the Madrigal Club. The highlight each year for these organizations is the operetta. This year the operetta was Tune In. A large cast and eseveral large choruses helped to make this mmsical comedy a success. The Madrigal Club represented Westfield High School in The Hoosier Music Festival at Indiana University this spring. Operetta As one of the high points of the year, the Music Department presented the operetta. Tune In, a modern comedy of a broadcasting station. The cast, eight choruses, and a special orchestra, as well as the other departments of the school all co-operated with Mrs. Bieelar in making this a very successful presentation.
