looking fade Gosh, it's hot tonight-just like fall -- the first day of school. Remember? We walked into the room trembling-left for the first time without our mother. Half of us were crying, the other half were petrified but boldly determined to be a success in this new venture. Oh, yes, the ufingern painting, it was fun though messy, but how niceg we got to take the hand plaques home. Where's yours? Still proudly displayed beside mother's dresser? We have grown, haven't we? Just compare the knuckles! Hot? Yes, even for Kindergarten Graduation-although some of our sweat may have been caused by the effort we put forth on the Rhythm Band. Go Dick Go! Run Jane Run! See Spot Run! And-in the midst of it--down the rickety old fire escape we'd run as the Fire Drill called us from our First Grade Reverie. The third floor? We loved the ear tests, because we got to explore the third floor and the big bare room! Bless Mr. Bird! He always had so much patience with us. Welch Field played an important part in our lives as the boys would race there to play the game of the season--and bombard the passing girls with chestnuts. Sixth grade graduation! The end of Welch Field picnics! New classes! New teachers! Battling for a seat at the Dairy Bar! Field trip to the museum! Sun- bonnet Sue! Junior High? - How heavenly! High School came and with it a new choice of courses including Mr. Ramm's cookie and milk sessions, extra mind reading courses after school. and the long map that needed a prayer rug. Prom and pains were the keynote of our Junior year! What a year! Pains from frozen fingers acquired at the car washes. Our first Exchange Student, France, what a darling she was! And the departure of our own dear Cricket as the first W. A. C. S. student to go abroad. It was the Era of the cowboy and Westfield really got hep! Paladin, the Mavericks, Bat Masterson, Kitty and Annie Oakley were honored at a party given by the roulette king, Theodore Wesley. OH, heavens, Senior year! The final step towards our ultimate goal. Among the new members of the class were Jeanne, Bill. Bonnie, and our suave Frenchman, Jeannotl Our Variety Show, magazine sale, candy sale, SENIOR WEEK, and Senior play set us on our road to Washington. Caps and gowns were ordered, but poor Lenny couldn't get in on the measuring end of it. The fabulous Washington trip became a reality. It was just announced that Congress and the President have just approved an immediate reconstruction plan for the Capitol. Then came the month of May and the waiting applicants received college decisions. My gosh, I'd better stop dreaming. The musicis starting and the first two are already going down the aisle. Wow, is it hot! , 29
