Cricket,' This year for the first time a student from Westfield went to Europe under the American Field Service plan as a Foreign Exchange Student. The lucky person was Martha Cricket7, Beale, who lived with the Corzilius family in Berlin, Germany. Her family was composed of her father, Vatig her mother, Muttig three brothers-Dieter, Udo, and Claus-Peter, and a sister, Puppi. They all took her warmly into their home and made her feel a real member of the family. In her own words, It was the most rewarding and the happiest experience of my life. I have gained an understanding and an education I could have received in no other way. I hope that during my short stay with the Corzilius', I was able to uphold the ideals of the A.F.S. and to give them a better understanding of our Amer- ican way of lifef' FOMQIL Emma Stadmta 1eannot For the second year in a row the Student Congress helped to sponsor a Foreign Exchange Student for Westfield. We were extremely fortunate this year to get Jean-Pierre Ludwig, or better known as Jeannot , from Pont-Andemer, France. He is living with Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Monta and family in Westfield for the school year. ,leannot is a senior and has participated in many of the Senior projects. He takes English, American his- tory, advanced algebra, public speaking, solid geometry, and psychology. He is very eager to participate in all the school sports, and this year is a member of the varsity basketball squad. He also enjoys photography, as anyone could well guess if they saw him, for wherever you see Jean- not , you also see his camera. The social emphasis in America is a lot different than in France, and 'fleannotn is taking advantage of the many extra things there are to do here.
