Forming has progressed with the ad- vance of man until now it hos become a voca- tion which requires on extensive education in many fields. The .F.F.A. plays an important role in these fields by training its members to be the leaders in the agriculture of tomorrow. The group in Westfield has been very active this year, participating in Q speaking contest, county judging events, crap demonstrations, and State F.F.A. activities. Fred Lewis wins sent as ci representative to Kansas City for the National F.F.A. Our F.F.A. also attended a state camp which is owned by all the F.F.A. chapters in New York State. Our group has a local responsibility called the Fisher Project, which consists of splitting casts and rent of land with Mr. Fisher. To be eligible for member- ship students must have the following qualities: Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service. They must also hold an 85fXJ average if a Junior or a 9O'Xn average if a Sophomore. The Society sponsors a scholarship program which presents a pin to each student from seventh grade to tenth grade whose average is 904k or above. These pins vary from bronze to gold with an inset diamond. They are presented according to the number of con- secutive school quarters in which the student maintains the required average. Every year the organization presents a play. Their '58-'59 production is An Apple for The Teacher. 83
