Having defeated the Dual County teams the Pioneers were ready to defend their championship stand in the Vacationland Conference. They finished with a 6-1 conference record and retained their title as Vaca- tionland Champs. The Pioneers had a good year in 1968, finishing second in the Vacationland Conference Meet at Thal-Acres on October 15. Senior members of the squad compiled the following record for the season: Dean Ahlstrom, Captain, first, 79 points in 11 races. Gary Peschel, second, 122 points in 10 races. Earl Collins, third, 135 points in 9 races. Conrad Walters, fifth, 208 points in 10 races. The Pioneer Basketball team finished the reg- ular season with a 14 and 4 record and second place in the Vacationland Conference. The only conference losses were 2 at the hands of conference champion Nekoosa. The trademark of the Pioneer play throughout the season was fine defense and great team play. A balanced scoring attack was displayed in almost every game. Three Senior players, Robin Butz, Tim Klimke and Greg Walters were key performers through- out the season and will be missed by next year's team. Three other senior players, Don Demke, Brain Kohn, and Dennis Thalacker, also deserve credit for their reserve roles. Did you Boys hear the one about. .. ?
