Pk Kt C6 S r Z- ■ « , lV'T «■ , - 'X. x 19 -1 - Foreword Hi, gang! I’m the Westfield Pioneer. For ten years, you have honored and cheered me on in your school activities. As a result, I felt I was adequately quali- fied to guide the tour through this year's Annual. (Named after me, of course!) When 1 explained my plan to the editors of the i960 Pioneer, they agreed to pre- sent me as your guide. So, here I am! As you will notice, I 'borrowed' the theme of a well known Western hero to assist me on our tour. Everybody ready? Then check your muskets, grab your coonskin cap, and GO, PIONEERS! Table of Contents Seniors..................................... 5 Administration..............................19 Underclassmen...............................27 Athletics...................................43 Activities..................................51 Advertising 75 Dedication The staff of the 1960 PIONEER are proud to dedicate this year's annual to a teacher, who has, for five years, opened the door for Westfield High School pupils to the fascinating world of science, Mr. Latzig. During his years of teaching at Westfield, Mr. Latzig has unselfishly contributed his time and efforts in assisting the pupils in extra-curricular activities. He has directed one-act plays, coached and judged forensics, held a drivers' education class, and began an art club. We feel mere thanks to be inadequate and hope to show the ap- preciation of the entire student body through the dedication of this year's annual. - 4 - Honor Students 1960 Kay Kietzman Sandra Pownell Thomas Christian PRESIDENT Senior Officers Edward Thalacker Janet Fiess Janice Quinn VICE PRESIDENT SECRETARY TREASURER - 6 - Linda Boy She looks small and quiet but—? We feel sad that we no longer will have you with us and happy that we have played a small part in preparing you for the world and your place in it. We sometimes feel that our job is the most important part of your education; but if we are honest with ourselves, we realize that our's is just a small segment of your total education. Everyone of you must realize that learning is a continuing process and that you as an individual must continue to be ready with an open mind to accept progress, and take an active part in making this world a better place in which to live. - 20 - George Steffen, Principal University of Wisconsin M.A. SCHOOL BOARD Members of the School Board for the 1959-1960 school term were as follows: The School Board has recently completed plans for the inauguration of a building program at Westfield High School.
