CLASS HISTORY On September 7 19 8» seventy-two boisterous, vigorous, but talented and brilliant Freshmen entered the Westfield Union Free High School. This was the largest Freshman class ever to enter the school. At the beginning of our Freshman year the Neshkoro students joined our school. One event everyone enjoved that year was our civics class trip to Madison with Mr. Johnson. In our first year of schooL Joanne Soiney v as our candidate for Queen at the Homecoming Dance. Mr. Beaster and Mrs. Shurpit were our class advisors. Class officers were as follows: President, Donn Dahlke; Vice-President, Russell Reetz; Secretary, Vivian Glaske; Treasurer, Marilyn Rhode; Student Council Members, Terry McMahon and Marilyn Rhode. In the fall of 19l|9, we returned to W.H.S. as Sophomores with Mr. Kohn and Mr. Johnson as our advisors. We elected Roger Gohlke for our president, Elaine Marotz, Vice-President; Larry Collins, Secretary; and Donn Dahlke, Treasurer. This year marked the return of the Homecoming Parade, sponsored by the Sophomores. Many of our classmates participated in extra-curricular activities, which made the influence of our class felt on the football, basketball, baseball, and track teams. Also, we received recognition in the Band, Glee Clubs, One- Act Play contest, F.F.A., F.H.A., and Forensics. Some highlights of the year were the Biology trip to Madison and, the picnic at Camp Waushara. In September 1950, we entered our most eventful year. We were Juniors. We elected the following class officers? President, Donn Dahlke; Vice-President Marilyn Rhode, Susan Hamilton, Donn Dahlke, and Jack Marshall. Miss Morton, Mr. Smith, Mr. Morgan, and Mr. Venn were our advisors. The first big event was homecoming. Our candidate, Susan Hamilton, was elected queen. She chose Bently Daye as her king. April Showers was the theme of our prom, held on April 19» Terry McMahon and Delores Kasubaski reigned as King and Queen. The Seniors chose Elaine Marotz and Don Smith as the outstanding Junior girl and boy. September 5, 1950, the Senior Class decided to honor Westfield Union Free High School by entering school. From that day since the Seniors have shown fin© 1 © si els r s h i p • Class advisors for the Senior year were Mrs. Lehner, Mr. Clark, and Miss Benton. Once again the Seniors elected well qualified office their class meetings. As President, Elaine Marotz ws as Vice-President; Treasurer, Don Smith; Secretary, for our class in student council were Charles Good, Dor Success was in the hands of the Seniors when they Dance on February 9. Music was furnished by Larry W c April 1|, the gym again was packed for the donkey by the Seniors. The football squad lost eleven members of their were seven Seniors out of eight fellows on the basketbs January Thaw, was the three act comedy that April 15. May 20 was the long awaited Senior Class trip. Lake Michigan cruise to Muskegan, Michigan. Thus the Seniors ended their high school career services on May 25» Class Night May 27, and So long Westfield Union Free High School. Commenc
