Highlights of the season were the victories over Montello and a close battle at Plainfield, winning by a score of 13-12. Pomplin, leading scorer with 65 points, was followed closely by Peschel and Fredrick. Pliermen shared the Conference Championship with Port by taking ten victories against two defeats. Highlights of the season were victories over Plainfield in three overtimes and an overtime against A-F. Christensen led the scoring with 110 points in twelve games and was a unanimous choice on the All-Conference team. Floeter and Smith were chosen on the second team, and Marks and Voigt were given honorable mention. The highlight for the fighting panthers of this season was the im- pressive 19-0 defeat of the strong Adams-Friendship team—the first loss for A-F on their own field. The fine team work and play showed the outstanding playing of immovable Scharnberg, guard; all around play of Capt. Smith, end; fine running of Sutor; left half; great job of centering by Hamilton, center; the passing and plunges of Capt. Christensen, fullback; those dangerous sweeps by Marks, right half; those two linemen, Buchholz and Hoffmann, tackles; and that fine punting and pass catching of Fredrick, end. The Panthers lacked weight but made it up in speed and team work.
