Russell The Pep Band was organized in 1937 for the purpose of pepping up the athletic games and adding a spirit or loyalty to our Alma Mater. This year the band was composed of twelve members. Harold Schauer was selected as director. The suits of purple and gold were worn while the band played at football and basketball games. 17

Murphy The Westfield High School Band, under the lead- ership of Norman Elliott, is composed or rorty-five members this year. Regular rehearsals are held every Wednesday rrom 3:15 to 4:00. Special rehearsals are held at appointed times. An annual event is the musicale held in mid- winter. In the spring the band travels to Stevens Point for the annual music festival. Climaxing the year's events is the district musical tournament, usually held in May. 16

Miller, D. Sybel, B. Kruger F. F. A. The Future Farmers of America is a national organization of farm boys studying vocational agriculture. The purposes of this organization are to develop complete aggressive, rural, and agri- cultural leadership, to strengthen the confidence of the farm boy in himself and his work, and to create more interest in the intelligent choice of farming occupations. Activities carried on by the Y estfield chapter of F. F. A., this year consisted of a stand at the Horsemen's Festival, a booth and stand at the county fair, exhibits in the local post office, selling football and basketball pencils, selling garden seeds and flower seeds, treating seed grain, sponsoring agricultural programs, spon- soring Father and Son Banquets, and the purchasing of pure bred ani- mals to be used in productive enterprises. 18
