PIO EER COURT ACTIO Broughton streaks ended b Westem Piedmont Communi- ty College broke' a spell here Tuesday night in the Morganton Industrial League' Basketball Torunament. . The WPCC team came from behind in the second half, sent the game into overtime, and then posted a 65-62 victory over Broughton during a three-game program in the Collett Street Recreation Center gym here. It was the first loss in 32 games for Broughton, which had swept through the 1975-76 season undefeated. -The victory put Westem Pied- mont in the winners' bracket semifinals opposite Inrnont. In- mont won 'I1xesday's first game, 59-42, over Carolina Shoe. City of- Morganton kept its hopes alive in the toumament by defeating Blind Justices, 63-45, in a losers' bracket contest. 'I'here are two more losers' bracket games scheduled for tonight in the double-elimination event. Broughton plays Carolina Shoe and City meets Southem Devices. The doubleheader begins at.6 : 15. Westem ,Piedmont had ,three players in double figures, with Tony Powell and Greg Jablonski scoring 16 points each and A1 Steiner getting 15. Game scoring honors went to Broughton's Ken- ny Ward, who pumped in 29 points, 19 of them in the second half. Jerry Ramsey added 10. Broughton had led by 28-26 at halftime. The game was tied at 59, at the end of regulation play. Field goals by Jablonski and Keith Berry and a pair of free throws byIDon Richardson gave Westem Piedmont its points in the overtime.
