Most people are in the caboose looking, backwards Ralph Lapp Imagine a long freight train going down a railroad track, with two different people viewing it. One person is standing on the ground, about three feet from the track, and he is staring straight ahead at the train, as it passes him. Basically all he can see is what is passing right in front on him, from momemt to moment. Another person watches the train at the same time, but he is not on the ground, but way high up in the air. In an airplane, balloon, or flying on his own he perceives the train in an entirely different way than the person standing on the ground does. Instead of seeing..the train only a little at a time, car by car, he perceives the whole train at once, and every car in it from the first to the last. Copyright 1976 by Richard N.
