LEAGUE Qi ati our affiliations, the Tuhercuiosis League remains as an extra speciatu memory for us. It was here that We were instructed in the care of this ctisease and to prevent its spreact to others. We Were constantly amazed at the cheeriuiness, pleasant co-operation, and appreciation of our patients. This made it a-reat pleasure to care for them. - During our time off duty, Usieepu was the usual diversion, hut we had a few exciting moments, too. Rememfher the time the fellow-student put her ugentte footu through. the transom on the sixth. Hoor-result-no more sun bathing. Those P.M.,s ioefore our clay off and the Holiday time heipect make the League un- forgettaiote. These and many others are fond memories we shait always cherish of one of our finest affiliations. DIET KITCHEN Diet the cliahetics eat everything? Remember? Xviii we ever forget: The ma-cl rush to get trays out on timeg burning toast-to say nothing of our hands: the continual' process of Weighing food: frying in mineral oil: those chocolate frostsg and luscious gallon jars of jam? Strange faces,-locked doors, keys, differ- en-t procedures and techniques which we will never forget. We Ehecame ac- customed 'to the new routine within a week. We lost that vague fear and took actuai interest in our patients and their proiotems 'hy delving into their 'pas-t to discover the predisposing and precipitating -factors of their illness which aided our understanding of them. Recreating the patients with various games, occupational and industrial therapies helped to consume their idle hours, to rehahiii-tate and re-educate them. ' i We experienced various emotions when we first witnessed 'Electric shock and Insulin shock therapies. The value of Hydro and psycho- therapy, narcosis, tohotomies and packs f-all demonstrated their value. New friendships were formed with other affiliates'-our off duty social life -all these went -together to matte our affiliation a pleasant and interesting one. Vve returned to Xvest Penn with a deeper insight into the human mind and richer with the understanding anii knowledge we gained. n:' I ll mil Ili- E Dorff Forum Win In Peg e Fifty-seven lu- :, .fi ,--,- .V 413.-v Q., ' . .
