CAMPUS' E VENTS' ....... 2 DR00 M 0.11.55 Having your graduation picture in the yearbook must bring mixed feelings. The friendship and fellowship establish- ed during your stay on this campus should be a lasting memory. However, after graduation there is a turning point with each graduate going his respective way, leaving many close ties. This must be a feeling of sorrow. This yearbook will always be cherish- ed, and should be kept in a prominent place in your home. I am sure you will turn to it on many occasions, refreshing many fond memories. May I congratulate the executive who worked diligently in culminating its pub- Iication. It is a credit to a very fine year. E. L. Woodley, Director f f ,. ,W W tfwwjw 3 MINISTER 0 A HR UIILTIIR It is a pleasure to have this oppor- tunity to express my appreciation of the contribution made to agriculture by the staff and student body of the Western Ontario Agricultural School. Since its establishment the School, through its educational program and extension services, has played an im- portant part in the development of agri- culture in Southwestern Ontario. It is gratifying to note the number of graduates of this School who have ac- cepted the responsibilities of leadership in farm and rural community affairs, and it is with the full knowledge of the contribution this year's graduating class will make that I congratulate them on the successful completion of their studies. The most important duty of the Students' Council is to promote co-operation and good feeling between the students and the faculty - especially with re- spect to residence life and conduct. Mr. Willson and his assistants, Roy and Pete, gave us willing help and co-operation, for which we sincerely thank them. We are proud to think our efforts made Steckley Hall a happy and friendly place for everyloody - well, most of the time, anyway. During the year we took on a variety of proiectsa- helping with the orienta- tion program for Year '65, sponsoring the Annual Valentine Dance, arranging for the sale of crests, pennants, and car stickers, conducting Awards Night, with merit loars for academics, sports and campus activities, providing corsages for the Graduation Banquet. All of us have appreciated the fine co-operation we were given by both staff and students and we are sure that next year's Students' Council will be iust as fortunate. President. Our thirteenth Annual Review was held on Thursday, February 27 and we had our Director Mr. E. L. Woodley open the event. Our theme this year was Agriculture Today and Tomorrow . The displays this year were of topnotch quality, which was probably due to the great cooperation received by the directors. This cooperation was displayed in every part of the Review to make it one of much success. Year '64 finished only 4 points behind the juniors thus showing the great competition that took place. The assistance and guidance that were given by iudges, staff members, and Circle K members were much appreciated. We on the executive this year are proud to have been part of the T964 Review. Circle K is sponsored by its parent club, the Kiwanis Club of Ridgetown, and is part of Kiwanis International at College level. This campus service organization is a strong link between the college and the community, and provides opportunities for good fellowship, and service to both school and community. lt is an organization based on the high ideals of Kiwanis International and membership in it can be one of the most enioyable experiences in the school year. Circle K provides fine training for future leadership and many lasting friend- ships are made in service clubs. Circle K holds regular weekly meetings and participates in a rotary plan through which each member is a dinner guest of Kiwanis in the course of the school year. President. ?g,' 53 LITE! Year T963-64 was a very successtul year tor athletic activities here at W.O.A.S. Teams in hockey, basketball, and volleyball represented the school in various leagues, exhibition games, and tournaments. There was also very keen compe- tition again this year tor the intramural volleyball trophy. The new curling rink at Ridgetown was used by the Westags. We had a six team intramural curling league started this year and it is quite probable that there may be a school team next year. ln the spring we held our indoor-outdoor athletic competition which included T2 events in which much enthusiasm was shown by the boys. The competitors in these events were given points tor their placings. Points were also given to players competing on sch I teams and on intramural teams. The boy with the most points wins the athlet ot the year award. The Athletic Society would like to thank our Staff Adviser, Mr. Willson, the coaches of the various teams, and all those who supported our athletic events during the past year. President. A few days before the beginning of the fall term nine students returned to school for practice and coaching in livestock judging. From this group four boys were chosen for the team to represent W.O.A.S inthe Inter-school Judging Com- petition at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, November 14. At the Royal we iuolged ten classes, three of beef, three of dairy, two of swine, one of carcasses and one of sheep. Later we gave reasons on all of these classes. ln the evening we attended a banquet for coaches and competitors, at which we learned we had placed second. O.A.C. was first, Kemptville Agricultural School third and Michigan State fourth. Although we were not as fortunate as the teams in previous years, we gained valuable experience and sincerely thank our coach Mr. J. W. Underwood. mdlff 68 JHD6' GD Y 5 ll , Sty.-Q gf?
