The Board of Trustees is composed of citizens interested in the higher education of the area students. Because of their concern, interest, and help, we would like to dedicate the 1967 REFLECTION to them. We the students of Western Ohio College thank you. Mr. Stauffer labors constantly as Resident Director of Western Ohio College. He works ceaselessly to give his kids all the benefits of a larger school. We feel he has given all these things and much more. Thank you, Mr. Stauffer. Dr. Smith is our first full-time faculty member. In addition to teaching, Dr. Smith performs counciling duties. His door is always open to help any student. For your help and interest, Dr. Smith, we thank you. Mrs. Simons does so many things besides her secretarial duties. The purpose of the student council is to promote better relationship between the faculty and the student body. This year's Council has tried very hard to fulfill this pur- pose. The nine -membered Council has supported numerous activities this year. Among these were the Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine Dances, the Easter Bake Sale, and most important, the Spring Formal. Candidates were judged for poise, beauty and talent. For talent Carolann sang a beautiful song. Many long hours were put into the making of the float that Carolann rode in the parade. The theme of the float was Skill, Ability, Attitude. Knowledge . Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays had the full support of the student body. The Thanksgiving Dance. the Christmas Dance, and the decorating of the Christ- mas tree were sponsored by the Student Council . 39 A ,M..d-w. h.-j. M M i, 7 -, Queen Penny Spriggs and King Milt Miller reigned over the annual Western Ohio College Sweetheart Dance on February 12, at the Celina American Le- gion Hall. The Sweetheart couple was crowned by Mr. Stauffer and Student Council President Joyce Saalman . Students enjoyed dancing to the versatile music of the Diamonds. Among the music makers for the evening was W.O.C. student Jean Saalman. 4l Each member of the Prom Court and their campaign mana- gers decorated the school with signs. posters, and banners. Campaigning was done a week before the voting for King and Queen. It must be admitted that the students used their imagi- nation. r, Students of WOC prepared anxiously for the Spring formal. They met at the Hopewell Grange on the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday before the dance to decorate. Long hard hours were put into decorating of the Oriental Fantasy . The Mel Haney Orchestra created the mood for the students and profes- sors to enjoy themselves. The fate of the dancers was foretold by for- tune cookies. 47
