Z0 0. 6. :7 1b Wefrospecf A few short months ago, a collegiate atmosphere came to Celina, Ohio. It was not a spontaneously instituted idea, but was the result of careful planning by civic leaders, educators, and futute-mirtded citizens of Auglaize. Darke, Mercer and Van Wert Counties. The School of which we are now a part was born by many and reflects their interest and labors. There had previously been night classes of college accreditation offered at the Ce- lina High School by Ohio Northern University to interested area adults, but a greater need was seen for more adequate facilities and a broader scope of subjects. From this assertion, W.O.E.F. was begotten. A site, the primary need of the planners, was secured through a generous agreement with the Celina Insurance Group, who leased their old business building to the Board of Trustees. Ohio Northern University provided the professors and accreditation. Businesses and residents of the four-county area were called upon to make donations towards the promotion of the college. The original goal of $15, 000 was changed to $25, 000 which was surprisingly surpassed by an end result of $50, 000. This was an example of the in- dustriousness of the civic-minded people of the area. After many months of work and frustration, the only remaining factor was the enroll- ment of the college. This problem was solved when a total of 285 students enrolled for the fall quarter; 283 for the winter quarter; and, 252 for the spring quarter. Courses in liberal arts, pte-engineering, pre;law, elementary and secondary educa- tion and business administration are offered at the college. A $20. 000 biology lab is being installed to provide more adequate facilities in the science area. It would be an impossible task to set forth on this page the names of the many per- sons responsible for the success of the college, so it shall be regarded as a community project with outlying villages and towns assisting strenuously. Everyone connected with W. O. E.F. is in unanimous agreement that the college will undoubtedly continue to enlarge, continue to meet the rising needs of a college educa- tion. and continue to turn out better citizens in the area.
