SH REE THROWER, a talented ninth grader, has won over 25 trophies and medals in various twirling contests. She entered the STATE TWIRL-OFF FOR MISS MAJORETTE OF OKLAHOMA on February 8,and placed 7th out of 47 girls. In this contest she Won two lst place trophies, a 2nd place trophy. and two 3rd place medals. She also won the lst place trophy for the SMILE AWARD. The girls were judged on poise, grace, personality, strutting, and twirling ability. CHEERLEADERS WIN AT CLINIC Contest Winners CHEERLEADER PYRAMID: Cbottomj Terry Dallas, Pat Collier, Gail Rhea, and Tanya Gagnon fmiddleb Vickie Livesay, Susie McEachern, and Linda Roberts. Ctopj Janet Smith and Patty Price. BARBARA ANN RHEA, a 7th grader, won the FIRST RUNNER-UP trophy in the LITTLE MISS OKLAHOMA CONTEST this past summer. As a winner, she was allowed to enter the LITTLE MISS WORLD contest which was held in Dallas. There she was voted on by the girls in the contest as one of the friendliest contestants and won the award for the lst runner-up for Miss Congeniality. The girls were judged on talent and poise. 2ND PLACE CHEER STRUGG LE AND STRESS IF you vvant success! S-U-C-C-E-S-SSSSSSSSSSS! !BuiId pyramidi We're the greatest! We're the best! We're the team That meets the test! We came: we sawg we conquered all! Standing tall we watched them! Western Oaks Warriors top them all C-O-N-O-U-E-S-T! Conquest! Success! Pioneer costumes were worn by almost all Warriors on 89er s Mrs. McGaughy 's ninth grade homeroom was one of the winn Day Thzs scene is in the cafeteria at lunch time ing rooms for the most authentic decorations. Warriors Pay Tribute to Pioneers A boy and girl from each grade are chosen as winners zn the costume contest. From left to right are Robert Stonebraker and Linda Walker 9th grade winners, Roger Marsh and Jennifer Derebery 8th grade winners and Ray Winkler and Amy Prassel, 89er's Day is a time for fun for the Warriors, but the activities are centered around a part of History that is dear to ali Oklahomans - The Great Land Rush of 1889. Homerooms are decorated in OId West style and students dress as some ofthe Spirit of the Pioneers. A little more on the serious side fbut not muchj was a reenact- ment of the Oklahoma Land Run when the 89er 's came to Oklahoma.
