Debate always keeps a class interested. Mr. McFadden let his Oklahoma History class debate in two teams of 4 each with Lanny Latham serving as the moderator. Mr. Burkhalter threw a trick question into one of his tests to try to stimulate students to take part in class discussions Class Activities The history teachers took all 8th graders to the Park Terrace Theater to see Gone With The Wind 'L a movie about life before, during, and after the Civil War. ROMEO AND J ULIE T was one of the biggest works of liter- ature that was studied by 9th graders this year, and many students had to make special projects. This one portrays the scene where Romeo finds Juliet after she had taken a sleep- ing potion. Thinldng that she is dead, he kills himself but she awakens to find him dead. Then she, too, kills herself The FRENCH CL UB-SPANISH CLUB Christmas Fiesta was held in the cafeteria the day school was dismissed before Christmas. The main meal was Tacos, made by the Spanish Club, and the French Club served French Yule Log cakes. Members of the 7th grade Spanish class danced the Mexican Hat Dance as part of the entertainment. MAGAZINE SALES N WINNERS Two 7th graders won the Grand Prizes in the Student Council Magazine sale this fall. Damon Miner won the Winchester Buffalo Bill rifle for selling Sl 75.00 in magazines. Kim Greve won a portable television for selling 8186. 00 in magazine sub scriptions. Debbie Atlee, Anita Enlow, Damon Linnel, and Gary Brown won portable mini-radio-phonographs for being runners -up in sa es. A very active speech department represented the school well in the spring speech con tests. In this scene Rusty Nichols has sbeen baited into killing David Paulsen, who wanted to commit sucide but did not have enough nerve to do it himself. The library club sponsored a paper back book sale which made them a large prof? I0 MSG f0V new books in the library. A movable bookmobile was parked on the school grounds for a week to allow every student time to buy books. Soc Hops always draw a large corwd, but there was an especially large group that turned out for the Valentine is Day Soc Hop where the Princess and Warrior were announced. f,fztmm1mmmw wmlnun
