Its primary purpose was to help cheer the boys to victory, to boost school morale, and to encourage everyone to attend the game flt worked! We beat them 19-OJ. Each homeroom was well decorated as students zealously tried to win the prize, which was a candy bar for each person in the winning room. The rooms that were the best decorated were Mrs. Barnnett's, 9th, Mrs. Troy's, 8th, and Mrs. Daugherity and Mill McConnell's, 7th, Mr. Franklin's homeroom won a special award for originality, and Miss Sim's homeroom received special mention. The winning rooms which showed the most spirit were Mr. Webb's, 9th, Mr. Gerbrandt's room, 8th, and Mrs. Hogan's '7th. At the end of Spirit Day a beat-up car lay upside down on the grade school playground. It was purchased as part of the day's festivities and symbolized what the wildcats would look like after our boys got through with them. Teachers' names were painted on the car, and students were allowed to hit the 'teacher' of their choice, one hit for a dime, three hits for a quarter. V--...c .-,.N . The newly re-decorated Sugar Shack , where candy bars are sold, is sponsored by the Student Council also. 'e em1.,,fwep,an, mm. The tasks of the Student Council officers are not always the easiest, but the satisfaction of helping to make a better school makes all the hard work worthwhile. President David Cotton presides at all STUCO meet- ings, appoints committees, and is frequently called up- on to represent our school and to appear before the stu- dent body. Gayle Williamson, vice-president, presides over the meetings in Dave's absence and heads all committees. Secretary Sherryl Melrose plays an important role as she and Richard Click, treasurer, handle most of the paperwork involved in keeping an important organization such as Student Cotmcil running smoothly. Sherryl keeps attendance records, takes minutes at all meetings, writes letters, and gets them in the mail. Richard keeps the Council informed on finiancial affairs, counts and rolls money, and assists in bookkeeping. Class Favorites and Warrior-Princess elections are sponsored by the Student Council, and they also spon- sor such school-wide activities as the Car Smash- Spirit Day, 89er's day, Slacks and Sweatshirts Day, Shorts Day, TWIRP week, and Freshman Day for the student body. The newly redecorated Sugar Shack is also sponsored by the council. The officers work with the sponsors and Mr. Garrison to set up dates and regulations for these' activities. At the presentation of class favorites in December, Mrs. Kimbley, sponsor, presented each girl with a charm and corsage, and each boy with a tie tack. H I I 1 : 'qlrfair

April 22, better known as 89er's Day, is a special occasion in the lives of the Warriors The students and teachers dress in their 89er finery and decorate their rooms to recap- ture the spirit of the late 1880's and the Great Land Rush when the Sooners first entered Oklahoma. Prize Winners-Janie Mcmestel., Kirk Zeilery and Office Staff: Mr. Nidell, Mrs. Wert, Mr. Garrison, Debbie Millspaughi Mrs. Hutchinson, and Mrs, Weekly. SLACKS AND SWEATSHIRTS DAY COMFORTABLE is the word that describes Slacks and Sweatshirts Day, and teachers as well as students enjoyed this informal attire. ,KJ m . 1 f :fr 252251
