STUDENT COUNCIL S 0, panticqmte in wif?- The Western Oaks Student Counci1's prime objective is to give the students participation in self-government. Fund-raising projects throughout the year are the concessions at games, the selling of candy, booster ribbons, beanies, pennants, T-shirts, and bumper stickers, among other things. The money made is used for various improvements and projects in the school. Other events include sponsoring of class favorites, sponsoring of the Princess and Warrior, and a big Student Council members' picnic at the end of the school year. The Student Council is also responsible for and in charge of many special dates, such as Spirit Day, Dress-up Day, Twirp Week, Sweatshirt and Shorts Day, 89er's Day, and Freshman Day. The major activities of the band each year are the Christmas and Easter concerts which are presented to the student body, and the contest season each Spring where the band members compete both as a group and in separate ensembles against rival schools for honors . 24
