All eighth graders take General Science, which introduces them to the various phases of science. Ninth graders are given the opportunity to choose between General Science, Earth Science, and Biology, but the latter is usually restricted to accelerated students because Biology is a regular tenth grade subject. Go, Warriors, is a popular phrase around W.O. during any competitive event, whether it be sports or academic activities. Mr. Webb. history teacher Mrs Marty Ounger Mrs D D Kirkland and football coach, decorated his room with cheers 9th Oklahoma History 9th Civics to encourage the team. Civics SOCIAL STUDIES I U I gfwwcq co, 9th Graders take both Civics, the study of our Government, and Oklahoma History, which tells of the problems faced by early pioneers as they formed our state. In American History the Sth graders become familiar with the men who helped build our country, as well as the many sig- nificant events that we hold so dear. 7th graders study the world pant of ! . . . A familiar sight around W.O. is Mr. Thompson's English Class in the Cafeteria. , rr R Mr. David Gerbrandt 7th, 8th 85 9th Speech Mr. Eugene Dodds, Special Education Mr. Dodds and Mrs. Gordon were two of the teachers who were cheerleaders at the Pep Club basket basketball game against the Women Women Faculty. 'tr S wr it f ff, ,f ii fl Mrs. Leila Barber, Barnett Mr. George Thompson 9th English Sth 8a 9th English LANGUAGE ARTS af Mrs. Barber, the language arts department head, and the other dedicated language teachers are offering us one of the most valuable treasures we can possess - the mastery of language. The 9th and Sth grade English teachers cover literature spelling, and grammar, but the 7th grade curriculum is divided into separate reading and grammar classes. This year for the first time the 7th graders are experiencing team teaching under Miss McConnell and Mrs. Daugherty. The latest addition to the 7th grade English department is a reading laboratory which is taught by Mrs. Riser.
