Homecoming Royalty Tapped Homecoming, 1969, produced a new king and queen for Nebraska Western College. Miss Mary Miller and Mr. Bob Byrd were crowned at half time ceremonies during the homecoming basketball game. Miss Miller, who is from Scottsbluff, is a cheerleader this year, and is also active in many organizations of the college. Mr. Byrd, who hails from Cheyenne, Wyoming, is a part of many activities, as well as a member of the Cougar basket- ball team. During Half Time Ceremonies. The girls follow suit kicking one by one until all of the Cougarettes kick in a circular chorus line. And that is how it is done! Cougarettes, an action team who performs during Cougar half times and cheers the players on to vic- tory. At the beginning of the school year tryouts are held and lO to l-4 girls are named as Cou- garettes. The girls practice two to three times a week and present two routines at each game. A sea- son highlight was the North Platte Junior College-Nebraska Western College game at North Platte. By special invitation, the Cougarettes attended a pre-game supper given in their honor by the North Platte Junior College Pom Pom Girls in North Platte. The girls exchanged ideas and later during game half time, NWC's Cougarettes provided entertainment.
