Unlike the National Honor Society, it is open to outstanding cadets from each class. The members are a group of hand-picked cadets who have proved their worth on the campus. They are chosen because of their leadership, academics, deportment, and, above all, their service to the school. This is the newest organization on the campus, as it was founded only two years ago. Captain Malone helped draw up the charter and at present sponsors the MTO. It is an influence for good at Western, and from this group will come future members of the National Honor Society. 13 ON

OUR HO OR NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY Seated, Left to Right: Minor Smith, Lt. Col. Persing, sponsor, and Bernie Corn. Standing: Edward Koch, Douglas Keith, Jimmy Don Maddox, and Robert Schwartz. Western's chapter of the National HonorsSociety, as the name implies, is a national organization. It is the highest honor group on the campus. Only a few Seniors can qualify for membership. They are selected by the Headmaster, aided by the faculty. CHARACTER SCHOLARSHIP 5' LEADERSHIP SERVICE Though scholarship is of great importance, a candidate must also meet the highest standards of character, leadership, and service to his school and fellow cadets. He must be a constructive influence for good on the campus. He pledges himself to the service and perpetuation of the National Honor Society's aims and ideals, both on this campus and elsewhere. 12
