PAUL CLARENCE HILL, JR. P. C. 339 South 22nd St., Terre Haute, Ind. 4 years Paul Hill spent four busy years at Western, maintaining a superior academic average of 3.75 and making four 4.00 semester averages. He was a member of the Club 400 and the proud possessor of a gold scholarship medal. Far frorr being mediocre outside of the classroom, Hill was a very successful senior and a lieutenant in the band. ln sports he earned a B letter in both basketball and football, plus a J. V. letter on the gridiron. He devoted valuable time to the Recall staff. A hard worker and a man who could be relied upon was paul Hill U. next fall, he should continue a brilliant career EUGENE D. HYNES GENE 7402 Liberty Ave., Parma, Ohio 3 years lvffith music in his soul and with a genial personality, Gene Hynes made more than his quota of friends during his three years at Western. Diamond was the soloist on the trumpet in the swing band, and he was a veteran and a sergeant in the military band. He had an average record in grades in both military and scholastic work. lXfhenei.er anyone went into Genes room, he would be playing the latest five records and in the mood for a good old bull session. He did not care for athletics. and a 'steadyu at home kept him out of circulation at most social arfairs. He has left a nenory for friendliness at Western. CHARLES K. HUMFELD CHUCK 5045 Westminster Place, St. Louis, Mo. 4 years Chuck Humteld was one of the more happy go lucky seniors but he had a loyalty to all things Western and a cheerful attitude toward his work that stamped him as a man of character. He was floor chief on the 4th Floor of A a military senior, and a sergeant in the corps. His most treasured hobby was his collection of guns, and he would sit by the hour describing his guns and the history behind them. TED S. JACH TED 8402 S. Wood St., Chicago, Ill, 3 yen, Whenever anyone boasted of his home town, led Jach was sure to be there boosting the Southside of Chicago. Being a very stable individual, led rounded out a commendable cadet career with a 3.00 class average, a UB military average, and high achievement in other Fields. He won a soccer letter in his iunior year, and last fall he was a smashing guard on the championship Red Raider grid eleven. His courage, loyalty, and ability to work were unquestioned. He held the rank of color sergeant in the corps and presided at the loot of a table in the mess hall. Ted Jach has many sclid Qualities and many friends. He will make a record for Uncle Sam. honor. CLARENCE H. JORGENSEN CLANCY 199 Main St., Fairport, N. Y. 9 years Tall, good-looking, and a crack shot with the rifle yes, that was Clarence Jorgensen, He made many friends and compiled a superior record during his sojourn at Western. His academic grades placed him on the honor list, and his military theory grades were good. He was one of the main rifle team members for two years. He served as a sergeant in the color guard. ln the held of sports, he liked riding, swimming, and skiing. With many-sided interests, a good mind, and an attractive personality, Jorgensen is sure to win high recognition in the uture. PAUL LESTER JONES SPIKE 2304 C Ave., N. E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa 1 lg years Paul Jones contributed to his class a good-humored, tunrloving personality. He could always be counted upon for a good bull session. He possessed one of the best collections of records in school. He was really a Hhep-catf' Monticello often claimed his attention, for he appreciated the fair sex. Jones was not very active in sports, but kept in condition by gym workouts or by taking 'inature walks. His grades were enough to get him through his courses. Best of luck to a good fellow. MALCOLM W. JONES MAC 31 Minges Rd., Battle Creek, Mich. 2 years Mac Jones was a great success at Western, He was good-looking and friendly. A top student, he made honor grades, won a scholarship medal, and belonged to the Club 400. He became a sergeant and ruled at the foot of a table in the mess hall. He was a loyal member ofthe Shrapnel staff, being scholastic editor, and was elected to the Quill and Scroll. He also worked on the Recall stall. He belonged to the Senior Dance Committee and was yice- president ot the Culee Club, manager of the swimming team, and a member ofthe Senior Play cast.
