What are the most scarce of all spaces on the Hill? Parking places! When the traffic situation became an acute problem on campus, remedial measures were taken. Each student automobile must now be approved and properly registered and must bear a sticker or... No doubt many individuals miss their favorite set of wheels, but with limited transportation, the weekend exodus has slackened. College campus life should fill a seven-day week. Probably the increasing number of Saturday classes will encourage this trend. Another new regulative system is now in functioning order at Western. The cutsystem, which at first was somewhat startling, has been found by the students to have merit. The red tape called for on the blue CA-1 forms should yield an efficient way of dealing with absences.

A NEW ERA ON THE FIELD AND IN THE STANDS With the completion of Western's new Academic- Athletic Building, a new era in sports and educational facilities at Western will be opened. Construction is presently underway on the new 2.9 million-dollar build- ing that will utimately seat 13,000 for basketball in the E. A. Diddle Arena. Other attractions of the building will include thirty classrooms, swimming pool, and numer- ous offices and equipment rooms. The vast edifice is expected to be ready far occupancy in September, 1963. Then facilities will proWde a boost for both inter-col- legiate and intra-mural spoWs. A portable stage will furt permit the basketball fa- cility to be converted into anXguditorium for concerts, plays, and other types of entert nment.
