Exposing the individual to the various languages and cultures of different countries expresses a pur- pose of studying a foreign language. For the first time at Western Hills, Russian was offered and taught by Mrs. Rebecca Stevenson. Giving the students an insight into the past of man was the task of the Social Studies Department. Miss Donna Grigsby, formerly of the English Department, taught world history this year. New additions to the department were Mr. Charles Hall and Mr. James Thames. Instructing students in various his- tory courses, were Mr. W. B.
