TEACHERS ARE FAIR, INFORMED One hundred and six teachers come and leave West High daily. Whether receiving praise or criticism, the teachers do their job in a Way that sets the Western Hills faculty apart from any faculty in the Cincinnati Public School System. The results of a poll taken by a Visiting Corn- mittee of the Cincinnati School Foundation showed that the students think the teachers are fair, understanding, and well-prepared. The committee report also stated that it sensed a spirit of cooperation among the faculty at West High. I feel the teachers, basically, are better at West High, stated loe Lucas. The teachers seem better informed in the way they present their subjects and their whole style seems more relaxed. You have a lot of fun and learn more, he added. Vice-Principal Owens said, There is a lot of morale of staff members similar to student mora1e. Displaying the morale mentioned by Owens, Mrs. Michaels stated, Our faculty is one of the finest in the Public School System. She also noted that A great number of the faculty mem- bers attend athletic games, drama events, and many other activities. Phil Breen feels differently about the West High faculty. Except for a few dedicated teachers, the faculty makes education a rather impersonal thing. Many teachers don't care about the student as an individual inside and outside of the classroom. I don't see much difference in the teachers here, stated vice-principal Cheesernan. We do, however, have a lot of teachers who were once students here and graduated from West High. Sutton feels West High's fine group of teachers are close, cooperative, and well-accepted by the student body. Sutton added that more teachers like West High and stay at West High longer. opening 5
