8 opening STUDENTS SHOW GUNSSP.N Western Hills draws students from several socio- economic areas. Yet, the students accept each other, and, as Principal Sutton stated, work more together for the common good of the schoo1. I think the students at West High are different, because even though we have a predominantly white school, the students show a real concern for integration, as typified by the Hughes Ex- change Program: a concern for others, as typi- fied by their participation in the Peace Corps school program: and a very healthy community spirit. as typified by their involvement in the stadium drive, explained Mrs. Michaels. Owens feels the students' conduct and attitude in general, is better at West High. The stu- dents here have more respect for authority in comparison to other high schools, he com- mented. Breen also noted that the students have been responsible with their freedom, because experiments like the dress code and the smoking area have worked out.
