A Students institute two new history courses After petitioning and receiving the approval of Mr Havlovic and the Board of Education, West High students could elect two new senior courses-Cur- rent Events and Advanced Placement European His- tory. Informal discussions and debates take most of the time in current events, while intensive lectures and research characterize the history course. Se- niors are also offered Social Economics, covering social problems and economic systems. American History is required for all juniorsg however, West High also offers a more difficult Advanced Placement course. Sophomores, the newcomers, can take the modern history elective. Newspapers and magazines used by most classes broaden interest in national and international af- fairs, as do guest speakers and films.
