4. 21,53 I Cheerleaders arouse enthusiasm in stands Following the fall production Thanks- giving brought the traditional HOlVlE- COIVIING celebration. The Pow-Wow kicked off events, followed the next day by the annual West High-Elder game. That night, the Homecoming dance was held at the Roof Gardens, with Autumn Leaves as its theme. Students and alumni danced to the East Orange Express. At midnight, Sandy Franks was crowned queen. When l came back, we passed the crown around and we all tried it on, including the boys. CHEERLEADERS played an im- portant role in basketball and football games. Composed of twelve Varsity and alternate cheerleaders, this year's squad could often be found practicing on the second floor. l feel excited most of the time. You're so close to the players in basketball games, says Jamie Cox, Varsity Cheerleader. Backing the cheerleaders this year were the IVIUSTANGETTES, the all girl cheering section now in its second year.
