The field of iunior social studies is perhaps one of most interesting part of the curricula of the iunior high school. This field includes the study of the history and geography of not only the United States, but also for- eign countries. These studies intro- duce the students to the political and social problems of the modern world. The students are shown the causes and effects of war and how they must fight against this evil. To teach such valuable lessons is a gigantic task and re- quires much intens- ive and extensive planning. To the right we see Mrs. Morris, as she organizes her material in preparation for another class discus- sion. VVith the good basis given in iunior high school students are very well prepared to be- come acquainted with the more ad- vanced problems presented in the senior social studies department. The old adage that, An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, can be shown in the tie-up between past history and modern day events. All the intricacies of social problems and their possible solutions are carefully studied by students of history. Shown at the right, we see Mrs. Johns looking on while a student locates a place important in current events.
