I always look forward with much anticipation to commencement exercises. I regard them with mixed emotions. On the one hand I am sorry that our schools must lose such a splendid group of young adults, but on the other I am proud of their achievements here and am anxious that they move towards new vistas in private life, the business world, or college. At these next stations they will be able to display their prowess and continue their training. One of the distinguishing features of youth is an abundance of ideas and ideals. We make a great mistake when we try to discourage young people in their ambitious plans. Needless to say, they are most capable and history shows that some of the greatest advances in science and social work have resulted from the ideas and ideals of a young man or a young woman. However, ideas should be linked to ideals, and when they are, you may expect to find a successful man, woman, or business. There is tremendous power in this link- age if we let that power exert itself in useful channels. To you, the members of the graduating class of 1977, your challenge is to cultivate far-reaching ideas and ambitions, but remember to harness them with the highest of ideals. The result will be, not just personal success for you, but a better tomorrow for all of us. Verne Horton Principal vu I I N ,...1 IA . 18 Graduation

THE PRIDE OF 1977 A time of special recognition to the graduating class of 1977, a great year of Pioneers. Remembering the magic of the year yet realizing the time has come to move on, we find strength in our senior theme: The end: but only to begin again. Inspired with hope we look to the uncertain years that lie ahead. We will al- ways treasure the special memories of high school, the impact of our Senior year, the ending of a twelve year education. 1977, a time to reach out and celebrate the Winds of Change. 5 There is a right time for everything A time to be borng A time to die: A time to plant: A time to harvest' A time to killg A time to heal: A time to destroy: A time to rebuild: A time to cryg A time to laughg A time to grieve: A time to danceg A time for scattering stones: A time for gathering stonesg A time to hugg A time not to hug: A time to fundg A time to lose: A time for keepingg A time for throwing awayg A time to tearg A time to repairg A time to be quiet: A time to speak upg A time for lovingg A time for hatingg A time for warg A time for peace.
